Immigration and social integration should be the cornerstones of our society, especially in light of recent developments in EU migration policy and Denmark's use of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) to promote inclusion and equality. The overarching issue of a lack of inclusion can lead to social inequality and tensions, making it crucial to address these challenges with effective policies.
The EU has recently achieved a historic agreement to reform migration policy, a process that has been 10 years in the making. This new pact on migration and asylum aims to establish predictable and clear norms that bind all member states, highlighting the EU's responsibility to protect those in need. By ensuring a common approach to the migration issue, the EU emphasizes the importance of solidarity among member countries and the need for European solutions to European challenges.
In Denmark, the use of ESF+ funds reflects a strong commitment to promoting a more inclusive labor market and qualified workforce, which is crucial for the country's green and digital transition. By supporting individuals on the periphery of the labor market and promoting social integration, Denmark is working towards achieving its social goals for 2030. This includes increasing the employment rate to 80%, ensuring that 60% of all adults participate in education each year, and reducing the number of people at risk of poverty and social exclusion by nearly 30,000 individuals.
My goal is to strengthen cohesion in our diverse society through policies that promote and protect equal opportunities, cultural understanding, and social integration. This is important for creating a more harmonious and fair society where all citizens have the opportunity to thrive and contribute positively. By building on the latest initiatives from the EU and Denmark, we can work towards a society where immigration and social integration are seen as opportunities for growth and development, rather than challenges.
